Betting on mixed martial arts is a great way to add more excitement to your UFC and MMA fight nights.
There are two different types of bets that are listed at most online sportsbooks for MMA fights. These are the moneyline bets and the over/under round bets.
How do moneyline bets work?
A moneyline bet is when you are betting fighter vs. fighter. An example of this type of line would look like this.
Chuck Liddell -450
Keith Jardine +300
In this fight, Chuck Liddell is the favorite at -450. This means that for every $4.50 you bet on Liddell you’ll win $1. So if you bet $450 on Liddell, and he wins the fight, you will win $100 of profit. If Liddell were to lose this bout, then you would lose $450.
Now Keith Jardine is listed as the underdog in this fight. For every $1 you bet on Jardine, you will win $3.00 if he wins. So if you bet $100 on Keith Jardine and he wins, you will profit $300 from this fight. If he were to lose the fight, you’d lose $100.
Totals betting
When betting on totals for MMA fights, the sportsbook will post a line for the amount of rounds they believe the fight will last. As a bettor, you can bet that the fight will either go over or under the amount of rounds posted. An example of a totals line would look like this…
Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine under 1.5 rounds (-135)
Chuck Liddell vs Keith Jardine over 1.5 rounds (+110)
For totals betting, the moneylines work the exact same way as the fighter vs. fighter betting lines. If you were to bet $135 on the under in this fight, and it goes under 1.5 rounds, then you would win $100 of profit. If you were to bet $100 on the over in this fight, and it goes over 1.5 rounds, then you would win $110 of profit.
